Christmas is here!

I can't believe it....

I finished Christmas shopping a while ago, but for some reason, I find myself going back into the madness to get stupid things like tape, glue and groceries. We are staying in TN this year. Unfortunately, Blake only gets Christmas day off. I, on the other hand, got 5 days and have enjoyed every minute of it...even though it has mostly been alone time. I've got a lot of things done at the house that I've wanted to for a while.
We have already done the family Christmas with Blake's brother & sister-in-law...that was nice. I got a painting, jewelry box and a financial book that I've been wanting for a while. Blake got a video game and controller for his Mac. He hasn't been able to peel himself away from the TV at night. Blake is on a 2 week break from school and has savored each minute!
This Christmas we are going to be doing a lot of family-filled gatherings...tomorrow night we are the "designated" family to light the candle at the Christmas Eve Candlelite Service...so that should be nice.

Hope everyone is doing well. Merry Christmas! We love you all.

Tree Removal

We finally got the tree removed! There is a big mound of tree trunk debris and dirt, which has settled a lot in the 2 weeks that has been there. Once it settles to ground level, we are going to cover with lyme and nitrogen, which will kill off the roots, etc that wasn't removed, then cover with grass seed.
It's been a fun adventure - glad it's over!

We actually got a 2-for-1. Our neighbor wanted a tree removed on the other side of our property, which was also dead. Turns out it was 2 foot over in her yard, so we BARELY missed having to pay for it. She removed it...so now I guess we are going to plant some more in the Spring.

Black Friday

Our Black Friday turned out rather nice. Blake worked in the morning while my mom and I tried to find stunning deals. I woke up early and made heart pancakes for Blake. I was rather impressed and decided to capture it! When Blake got home, he laughed at my $30 artifical tree I got from Lowe's (which was well deserved). When we went to take it back and find something decent, we decided to get a real tree. Blake has never had a real tree, and we thought it would be perfect for our first married Christmas. It was quite an adventure shoving it in Blake's little car and getting it into the house. Now our house is smelled with the sweet Christmas tree scent. So far, we both love it! We are still trying to keep Taylor out of drinking the water and hitting the bulbs.

Hope ya'll had a fantastic Black Friday!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving.

We had a lovely lunch / dinner with the fam!

Hope you did the same :0)

Now...it's time for shopping :0)

Weekend in Florence, AL

We went to Florence this weekend for a friend's wedding. We stayed at Jordan & Keishun's house (thanks guys!). We had to take Taylor with us and when we got to their house, we realized they had 2 HUGE dogs (Bull Mastiffs). One was 7 months old and really hyper...the other was 3 years and was used to being around small dogs. He looked really intimidating but was as gentle as could be with Taylor. They played and laid on the couch together and became good friends. I wish I got a picture of them but unfortunately, I didn't.

We are ready for Thanksgiving! I can't wait for a break from work AND some delicious food!

Another project ... I'm on a roll!

I've pulled up the flowers that died with the first frost and replanted with Pansies. They will stay in bloom throughout the whole winter and THEY ARE PURPLE! They are looking a little pathetic right now so hopefully with a little TLC they will make it.

My new favorite plant in our bed is the Burning Bush. It is gorgeous with the changing of seasons. I really like the red color.

Hope ya'll had a great weekend. We did!

Project # 3 Update

Project #3:
BEFORE & AFTER Pictures.
Blake finished clearing out the back. I cannot take any of the credit for this one. He did it mainly during the day and it took him about the month. We decided to not clear it all out because we enjoyed the privacy. We have enjoyed a bon fire and love the seclusion in our back yard.

Looks like all of yard work is completed this year! Woohoo!

Project # 1 & #2 Update

Project #1:
BEFORE & AFTER shots (in that order). It has been almost a month and the privets appear to like their new home. A few are looking bad but they were also planted around heavy rock that we couldn't get out.

Project #2:
Front has been seeded for about a month and is starting to show thru. We are waiting for the grass to come in really thick before cutting for the first time.

YUM

We are going to Cheesecake Factory tonight for my youngest cousin's birthday. I'm SOOOO excited. I'm hungry just thinking about it.

TGIT (Thank God It's Tuesday)

We had a LONG weekend. The wedding went very well it was just a lot of work!
Blake had to leave early to attend Hunter's bachelor party, which was interesting, to say the least. We both got home at ridiculous times and went to bed really early the next night to try and catch up.

Taylor spent the night at Grandma & Grandpa's house on Friday night and seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself. She loves to play outside and hide in the bushes! We missed her so much and are glad to have her running under our feet again.

Monday was rough...it's hard to get back in the groove when you are exhausted. Yesterday we had a nasty storm but it didn't seem to do any damage. We are so ready to have that tree taken down...which should be in a few short weeks.

Blake and I haven't really spent much time together since his new job promotion, so tonight we will be able to enjoy dinner alone and catch up. We are both excited.

Pretty uneventful week. Tomorrow we are celebrating my youngest cousins birthday at Cheesecake Factory....SO ready for that! I love that place!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a good upcoming week.

Fun filled weekend

I've had a great week. I got an iPod and Timex watch for my birthday. SCORE! I will be celebrating with the fam later on this weekend.

It is going to be a fun filled weekend. Our friends Ashley and Daniel are getting hitched, so tonight we will be joining them for a rehearsal dinner and then tomorrow let the fun begin. I am going to be decorating the reception area and I'm sure it will turn out cute!!! Because of all of these festivities, Taylor is spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa's in College Grove. The rehearsal dinner & wedding are in Lebanon and I will be there most of all tonight and all day tomorrow. It's our first night without our lil puppy and I already miss her so much. Mom said she is exploring and loves playing on the steps. But....we are excited that our friends are getting married!

Other than that, birthday dinner is on Sunday night and will probably lay around the house all day Sunday to catch up from the week / weekend.

Hope you had a great week and an even better weekend!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

We are getting ready for trick-or-treaters and Taylor is dressed up and ready to go. She is so cute and doesn't like her costume at all. This year she is Paris Hilton.

Promotion!

Blake got a promotion today, surprise!!! He is still going to be a
Produce Manager for Food Lion, he is just working at a new
location...Manchester, TN. He has a longer drive (45 minutes) but the
store is newly renovated and does about $14k more a week in produce
sales. He was recommended by theDistrict Manager...so I think he is really excited to have a change of pace.

Taylor is growing so fast. We have been getting her ready for Halloween. Can't wait to post pictures of her outfit! Unfortunately, we are going to have to get her fixed soon. She has shown interest in certain activities...if you know what I mean.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Let It Rain!

Here is a picture of the tree damage. Doesn't look like much or even that big of a limb...but it did a number! The hole in the roof has been fixed...now we are waiting to get a quote on the gutter. It's been pretty entertaining (NOT!) when it's pouring to hear the spatter on the porch. Kinda sounds like we have a tin roof when you are walking past the door. Oh well.
We are getting the tree cut down in a few weeks.

I'm loving the rain, especially since I seeded and fertilized on Sunday ;0)

Blake finished his first class last night. He has now moved on to his second class. He was excited to get off an hour early last night :0)

Pretty uneventful day. Have a good week!

Weekend Drama

The terror tree (pictured) punctured our roof and penetrated everything (shingle, 2 layers of plywood) except drywall! But, if it rained then it would of caused our ceiling to collapse. Luckily, we had a roofer come out and patch it up with a metal patch and reshingle. So that has been taken care of. Thank goodness it didn't rain this weekend! WHEW!

The gutter is mangled and unfortunately, is one big long piece, so we are going to have to get quotes on that. Apparently gutter-men don't work on weekends.

We had 3 quotes for tree removals. They were $2500, $2100 and $950. Why the big difference? One tree guy showed up 2 hours late and ended up coming at the same time as another tree quote guy. I think it was competition. Insurance will only cover $500 for a single tree removal, so looks like this is going to be fun for us, since we've decided to pay it out of pocket. At least once we get the tree removed, we won't have to worry about that again.

Other than that, pretty uneventful weekend. Blake had bookoo's of homework and I went to a bachelorette party in Murfreesboro. We cleared out the back some more and straighten up some privets that were damaged during the storm.

I'm still getting around to the after pictures. SORRY!

Tree Downage

Last nights storm brought us many presents. We heard a "thump" around midnight and got up to access the damage. The top of a dead tree fell on the back roof / porch area and has ripped off part of the gutters. The tree / limb landed on the grill and is covering the entire porch. Luckily, I don't think there is any damage to the roof, grill or anything else but we will be checking that this afternoon. Looks like we are going to have to get that tree taken down, which is going to be a pretty penny. I think Blake can fix the gutters himself, but if he can't, I guess that's why we have homeowner's insurance! Other parts of the tree (i.e. limbs) are lying all around the yard in hopes to being picked up. Joy.
Anyone know any good tree removal people?

On a lighter note, was very pleased with Grey's last night.

Have a good weekend.

Update

Project #1:
Still doing good. Privets appear to be happy in their new home...but I guess I won't be able to tell whether they'll make it for a couple of weeks. I'm still watering (except for today because it finally rained - YEAH!)

Project #2:
Seeded all of the front and sides but ran out of seed before I got to the back. Suckage. Will have to buy some this weekend and start again.

Project #3:
We started this yesterday afternoon. Blake has cleared out almost all of the very back; so I'm guessing we are working from back to front. There is a lot of bushes / prickly limbs. Blake is clearing and I'm cleaning. We have called the Fire Dept and Town of Smyrna to get burning permits, but we don't need one; just need the neighbors to not complain. We will be looking for a big whiskey barrel...not sure where to look for one at but will still be on the lookout. I don't think it's going to take as long as we both originally thought but it will suck as much as we thought!

Project #4:
Will start on this soon. Still contemplating design.

I'm glad it's Thursday (Greys!), glad it's raining and glad that we are getting closer to Halloween. Life is good!

Monday, October 15, 2007

Glad that's over!

Project #1: COMPLETE
I finished transplanting the privets. Got into a little "discussion" about where our property lines were, which delayed me by 3 hours, but everything was worked out. I had to recruit mom & dad to help because of time crunch. When I started digging, I discovered nothing but gravel underneath, which is probably why the other ones died. So, I got my parents to bring a truck bed full to replace. I'm having to water them heavy to get them to readjust. I've taken before pictures, just haven't had time to get around to the "after". Will be posting them soon, hopefully.
Project #2: UNDERWAY
I'm reseeding the yard this week (hopefully before it rains). I've been saturating the ground getting it ready to accept the seeds. I have to wait until Blake cuts the grass because once I seed, he won't be able to for a couple of weeks. After the seeds have started to sprout, I'm going to winterize (?) and weed and feed. Hopefully next year we will have better grass.
Project #3: DREADING
I am not excited about clearing out the back. I'm fearful that there are TONS of snakes and ticks and little crawly things. I'd rather wait until it gets cooler, but I know I will never get it done if I wait. I HATE cold weather! SO...I'll be starting on that this upcoming weekend hopefully.
Project #4: STILL CONTEMPLATING
I want to extend our flower bed around the house...but I'm thinking that may be a spring project, since I won't be able to plant anything right now. Blake and I agree on what we want to do, we just aren't really sure how we want it to look. It's slowly coming to us.

Needless to say, I'm glad to be at work sitting on my butt today. My whole body aches.

Hope you had a great weekend!!!! and a great week.

Weekend Post

Well, it's been a long but good week...
This weekend Blake is working ALL weekend, so I'm going to get a head start on some of the yard work. We are unable to rent a tiller so we get to do it all by hand! How exciting!
Other than that, not much going on. We are going to our neighbor's birthday party. He will be 8!!!!

Have a good weekend.

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

We had a wonderful weekend. The in-laws came in town and we had excitement from sun up to sun down.
On Saturday, we had breakfast at brother & sister-in-laws; went to Cheekwood and got some ideas for our garden; ate dinner at our place.
On Sunday, we ate breakfast at Noshville; went on the General Jackson; ate at Pei Wei and watched the movie, Breach.
Blake's mom had a really nice birthday...too bad his dad wasn't feeling very well.

Blake went to school yesterday and I rested. Our plans next weekend are to either aerate / seed the yard and start moving the garden over OR tilling up the privets on one side and moving half to the other side. Either project is not going to be fun, but I really want to do it before the cold weather hits. Blake has to work all weekend, so it really depends on how I can operate the machinery for the majority of the day. Hopefully, our hard work will pay off next year! I'm already ready for spring and to start planting.

I am trying to come up with ideas for our new side garden. It only gets morning sun and is in the shade for most of the day. There is a big air conditioner unit that I'm interested in hiding as well. I really like elephant ears and would like to bring some color into the garden. Any suggestions are welcomed! I'm also going to start an herb garden this winter in the house and transfer those into pots on the back porch once the weather is nice again. I'm going to start doing research soon for things I'd like to do. Another project we have to do before winter is to clear out the brush in our back yard. This will be the BIGGEST TASK of all and will be a major headache. Def. not looking forward to that. I'm putting that last on the list because I really dread it and I have a feeling there are a lot of critters (i.e. ticks, snacks, etc.) back there. I'd rather wait until the winter, but I'm afraid that it will never get done and the ground will be too hard to do anything.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a great week.

TGIF!

Yeah, it's Friday. The weekend has officially begun. Last night, Grey's was really good. I got some cleaning done, which was good :0)
Tonight we are going grocery shopping. The in-laws are on their way in town and we are going to make a tasty menu for everyone tomorrow night. We are also thinking about taking Taylor to the pet store for a Halloween costume. I finally convinced Blake to let her have one. I'll post a picture once we buy it!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Pretty Boring

Last night was also uneventful. We gave Taylor her Frontline...brushed her teeth, which was pretty interesting...but went well.

We are going to have about the same routine tonight...but tomorrow night is a different story with GREY's coming on. Tomorrow night will be a night dedicated to pizza and couch time. I'm so excited.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Uneventful

Pretty uneventful day.

I'm proud to announce that Blake and I got a full nights rest last night. Taylor slept in her kennel because she was a bad girl. She is teething really bad. I gave her a pill for the first time last night and she LOVED it. I hid it in peanut butter and she went nuts!!! She didn't cry or anything...which makes me hopeful that we haven't "ruined" her from not sleeping in our bed.

Other than that, Blake is going to do homework and I'm going to continue cleaning!!!!

I'm ready for Friday! The in-laws are coming in town and we are sooo excited. It's felt like forever since we've all hung out and we always have a great time. I'll get a bottle of wine, some nice steaks/salmon and live it up on the porch in this beautiful weather.
That's all for now. Have a good night.

Sleepy

It's been a long day. The morning didn't start off to great when I showed up late to a training session in Nashville because I got lost. Oh well...
Work was fine just long.

This weekend was great. We basically did nothing, which we haven't done in a long time. Blake caught up on his homework and played with his new baby (Apple Mac Book Pro) while I cleaned the gutters and weeded out the flower bed. I feel really productive...now I just need to tackle the inside. Last weekend I got a lot of the nasty dusting out of the way (fans, vents, window treatments) because we had my parents ladder. I really enjoy being on ladders...not sure why, just do. We also watched Perfect Strangers...which was a good movie. I would recommend it to Halle Barry fans.

Tonight Blake has school and Taylor and I are going to my grandma's house for dinner. Taylor will be getting her first Frontline tick & flea spray tonight along with a Heartworm pill. I'm really looking forward to giving her both. She has now officially learned how to jump on the bed; which is keeping me up all night. That would explain why I'm sleepy now. We should have heeded everyone's warnings about letting the pup sleep on the bed, now the reversal process is going to have to be put to work, which is a pain in the butt. It was worth it to let her sleep on the bed because it did a 180 for her potty-training wise.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a good week!

Grey's Wonderland

Grey's Anatomy lived up to my excitement last night. We went over to a friends house to celebrate her birthday and watched The Office and Grey's. I must admit I didn't really care for The Office season opener, but it was alright. Grey's was fabulous!!!

We are going to celebrate tonight and get 2 nice steaks. We are planning on grilling out and enjoying each other's company. We haven't had an "us" night in a while, so we thought we'd celebrate :0)

Blake got a scholarship! We are so surprised. We had no idea until the school bill
came in and it was $1750 less than we expected. He is estatic. He is planning on buying a Mac Book this weekend with his "earnings". His computer crashed a few weeks ago, so he has been bumming off me. He called to confirm that the scholarship wasn't a dream and asked why, she said, because your GPA from your Community College was good. Blake said he thought, what??? are they talking about me? and then quickly got off the phone so he wouldn't jeporadize or make them investigate any further. haha!

Well, I'm glad it's Friday. I've had a wonderful first week at my new job and I've really enjoyed my work week. I'm ready to sleep in though!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hump Day

Today was a good day. Blake gave me flowers this morning (AWWWH!), which I must say, made my day.
Work was good. Being busy makes the day FLY by!

Blake is doing homework and then we are going to watch Knocked Up. I've been wanting to see that movie for so long; I'm so excited.

Taylor went back to the vet today. Got 2 shots. She now weighs 10 lbs. She got a clean bill of health and we are so proud!

Happy Hump Day!

2nd day

My 2nd day of work went well. I have a huge project that I'm working on and it's overpowering my training; but I enjoy being busy and productive. So far, still so good.

Blake's 2nd day of school went well last night. He is getting used to the routine, which is nice :0)

Everything else is going good. Blake accidentally left the bathroom door open today when he left for work. Our precious princess got into the toilet paper and had a blast. At least she didn't pee everywhere!
I'm going to attached pictures on our website for your enjoyment.

Hope you are having a good week.

Monday, September 24, 2007

It was a fun day!

I started my new job today and so far, so good. I am heading up a project and met a bunch of new people. Unfortunately, I'm not good with names but luckily I had my handy-dandy note pad so I could write them down. I was very busy, which is a LOT different than my last job. Blake is at school tonight, so it's just the girls!

Blake was sick all weekend so we were not able to go camping. I drove out on Friday night for dinner and then headed back to take my sicky. He has since recovered and is back at it full force. I'm still crossing my fingers that I didn't catch that nasty bug!

We had a good weekend. I got a few projects done around the house while Blake was resting.
Pretty good weekend, despite the camping. Now on towards a great week!

Hope you have a great week too.

Long Friday

It's going to be a long Friday...I'm exhausted and it's just doing to be a long day.
Poor Blake is really sick. He started feeling bad yesterday morning and it came on strong. He is now running a fever and has to work until 12. I feel so bad for him. He didn't sleep all night. I hope that I don't get it. I feel exhausted and drained but I don't have any symptoms he has. It would SUCK to get sick now...because I am starting a new job on Monday. I'm going to just have to down the water and gets lots of rest.
Now that Blake is sick, we are probably not going to go camping. Part of this is good, because we can get some good rest and part of this sucks...because we always look forward to this every year. Depending on how Blake feels will determine whether or not I go.

We ate with Chris & Sara last night at Macaroni Grill (which was wonderful) and finished watching "The Pursuit of Happyness". It was really good. If you like "feel good" movies, this is a good one.

Today is my last day at Eco-Energy. Looking forward to starting my new job on Monday!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

1 more day

One more day to go......
UPDATE: The days are still going by super slow.

Lunch with Maren yesterday was spectacular. Last night, I went grocery shopping for the camping trip and then met Mom and Dad @ BRICKS (love that place). Afterwards, we started watching The Pursuit of Happyness and almost finished but we were both tired. So far it is a super depressing movie and some people that have seen it said that it will make you cry, so I have a feeling it isn't going to get any better. I did not know that the little boy is actually Will Smith's son...how cute.

Taylor is still doing good with potty training. I think the change was when we let her stay out at night. Yesterday, we locked her up in the bathroom during the day (because we both had a 9-10 hour day) and she held it THE WHOLE DAY. I'm so proud. I think she understands now! YAH! I feel kinda weird blogging about my puppy's bladder control....but it's whats going on in our life. HA!

Tomorrow we are going camping! Unfortunately, we will not be going on the pontoon or fishing. The Center Hill dam is cracking and could break at any moment. I do not want to chance that (esp. the fishing or canoeing part, which is under the dam). Plus, I have to be a responsible parent and watch the puppy, so the pontoon for the day is out. I'm uncomfortable putting her on an open boat. I don't trust her that much! So...we are planning on hiking and eating a lot and sleeping in. Taylor is still sleeping on our head, so that is keeping us up through the night. I finally put her on the floor and let her manage for herself and we both got sleep from about 3am on.

I'll start my new job as a Purchasing Coordinator / Administrative Assistant at CHS on Monday, which I'm excited but nervous about. I think it will go great but feel a lot of pressure to perform.

Will keep you posted...take care.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Is it over yet?

This week is slowly going by...feels like it will never end. Work is super slow as I'm wrapping up my last week.
I'm going to lunch today with my bf, Maren, for her birthday. YAH!
Then, I'm going to prepare for camping this weekend, which I am VERY excited about.

Last night was very uneventful, which we loved. Taylor is still doing great with potty training. She slept on my head last night. Very comfortable. I just talked to Blake and apparently she slept on his head last night too. He was just as excited as me :0)
Tonight, our first Netflix movie will arrive, The Pursuit of Happyness (no, I didn't misspell that, that's how they spell it). We've got a lot to do to prepare for our camping trip, so hopefully we will have enough time to enjoy some relaxation.

Have a wonderful hump day!

Backache

I went walking last night and the little neighbor boy wanted to go with me because he wanted to ride on his wheely shoes (not sure of the "technical" name). About 15 minutes into our walk, he decides that his feet hurt...so since I am the one who agreed he could go, I decided to carry him on my back to his house. It took me 25 minutes. My back is KILLING me! I knew it was going to hurt as soon as I picked him up...but it's my own fault. I feel old.

Blake officially started his program last night. He went to school from 6-10pm with only 1 break! He was exhausted when he got home...but the overall consensus is that he likes it, he loves his group and it is just going to take him some time to a) readjust to homework and studying and b) sitting through class for that long and still manage to pay attention. I think he likes going one day versus 4 days a week, though.

I think I'm going to go to dinner with my bf, Maren, tomorrow to celebrate her birthday (even though it's belated at this point) and then I'm going to prepare for our camping trip this weekend! YAH!

Boo

I hate Monday's...especially now. Blake usually has Mondays off; so it really sucks to get out of bed while he is still sleeping. Now, on Mondays, Blake will have class...which means he won't be home until 10:30ish, so Taylor and I will get a lot of quality time together. Part of this is good though, I can get some housework done....but it still sucks to not see him all day :0(

We had a fabulous weekend. Guntersville, AL was GORGEOUS. Hard to believe that a place that small (and in AL - haha) could be so beautiful. Blake is from AL and he had no idea this place was so gorgeous. The boys went fishing and the girls went shopping and walking. We took Taylor on a 3 mile walk, but she only lasted about 1/4 of the time.

I visited some friends church; First Baptist in Smyrna. I loved it! I can't wait to go back...I just wish that Blake could join me. Hopefully, soon he will have a schedule change. I did house and yard work last night while Blake finished up his homework.

Next weekend is going to be AwEsOmE! We are going camping with the fam at Center Hill for the entire weekend. It should be a lot of fun with game playing, fishing, possibly boating and relaxing in the sun. I hope it is good weather! With this cooling off, it should be.

This is my last week at my current job, so I've been wrapping up some loose ends. I will start my new job at CHS on Monday. Hopefully, I won't be pooped out. :0)

Sorry!!!!

Hey guys,
Sorry that I have to have my blog "locked" for accessed readers. I have recently discovered some unwanted readers and I'd prefer them not to see the going-on's of my life.
I will probably "unlock" it in the near future....just wanted to see if this works. Please feel free to leave feedback about your happiness/unhappiness of this.

I appreciate you reading and signing up though :0) I feel special.

It's fRiDaY!

Finally....it's Friday! WoooHooo!

Getting ready to wrap up work and head on the road.

Taylor had another successful night out of the kennel....very exciting.

Life is good. Gotta love Friday's!
~Have a good weekend~

One more day until the weekend

And the countdown has begun.....
We had a blast last night at the Ben Harper concert. We went to dinner with friends and then sat and watched the concert. Ben was awesome as usual...but he didn't play our fave song (bummer). Got home too late and now I'm really tired, but I will live.
We did an experiment with Taylor last night. We left her on our bed to see how she would do out of her cage (i.e. any "accidents"). She actually slept in our bed until about 2am when I turned over. She woke up and wanted to play, so I put her on the floor. She played for a while and then laid down on the blanket by my bed and slept all night. I'm proud to announce that she did not have an accident. This morning, she even pawed on the door to alert me to take her out. She is such a big girl now! We will try this experiment out again tonight. We are such proud parents.

Can't wait to go to Guntersville, AL this weekend. It will be nice to get out of the routine for a night. Next week will be a lot slower than this week....a lot of activity!

Hump Day Finally Here

Yeah! Today is Wednesday!!
We are going to a Ben Harper concert tonight with some friends. Hoping to have dinner and a drink on the river somewhere, then head over to the Ryman for a good time! We are so excited and love hearing him play. Poor Taylor will not have a playmate tonight...but hopefully she will be okay by herself and will enjoy having the neighbors take her out.

We just found out that this weekend we will be going to Guntersville, AL. WOOHOO! Blake wanted to fish with my uncle (who lives in Atlanta) and this is 1/2 way. The boys will be fishing and the girls will be shopping and puppy sitting. There is a cool shopping place called "Unclaimed Baggage," where you can get a bargain on people's things that went unclaimed at airports! I'm excited to see what kind of junk they have and if I can get a good deal on something.

Saturday, we will be celebrating my brother and cousin's birthday, possibly my sister-in-laws birthday and my best friends' birthday, who is having a party at her new house. We have 5 birthdays this week! WHEW! Looks like we have a busy few next days!

Happy Hump Day!

Blake Starts School

Yesterday was Blake's first day of school. It was "Orientation Day" and I got the pleasure of going with him to experience his first day of the MHR (Management & Human Resources) program at Trevecca. It is a 13-month program for him to get his Bachelor's degree. He is very excited but VERY overwhelmed after seeing all of the work he has to get done in the new few months! Everything went well....

Guess I'll have to slim down the honey-do list :0)

A lot of changes...

We had a good weekend. Very busy, but good. We had a garage sale on Saturday and sold a TON of stuff. Then, we celebrated my grandma and deceased grandpa's 50th wedding anniversary. On Sunday, I went / co-hosted a bridal shower for our friend, Ashley, and then finished painting the garage and cleaning the house. I am EXHAUSTED but glad that my "to-do" list is slowly shrinking.

I also had to make a tough choice this weekend. I've decided that I'm going to leave my current company to go back to my old company. I'm going to my old company, but I'm not going to be doing the same thing I did before...I'm actually going to a different department. I'm really excited about it but it was a tough choice to make. I haven't been with my new company long and I really like the company; but we had to make the choice that was best for our family...so, I'll be there in 2 weeks.

Blake has orientation for MHR program at Trevecca tonight and it's "family night." He is officially starting the program today to finish up his Bachelor's degree (it's a 13 month program). He is excited about it, but I think he is dreading school work again. He is doing such a great job around the house and at work, I know he will do great at school.

Enough for now. Guess I'll get some good sleep tonight! :0) Have a good day.

Labor Day Blues

This weekend was awesome. Blake and I got so much done. I painted the garage and got all of our yard sale stuff marked. We had 2 separate cook-outs....the sirloin steaks were definitely my favorite. We celebrated my parent's 25th anniversary and helped landscape my grandma's old house; part of a project that will take a while.
We ate way too much, slept in and although we didn't relax much, we felt relief from being so productive!

But...today we had to return to work. The days are getting shorter and summer is technically over. Daylight savings time is creeping up on us and will be stealing even more sunlight. It is now taboo to wear white...which doesn't really bother me. I really love the extra day off of work but it saddens me to think about saying goodbye to the warm weather. I do love fall, which will be coming early this year since it is so dry but I'm not much of a snow bunny. Let's put it this way...I wear sweaters in my office and at home.

The Weekend!

The countdown for the weekend has officially begun. (only 45 minutes!)
Tonight, I'm going to grill out and relax with the hubby, possibly with the neighbors.
I'm excited to have an extended weekend of no travel and not that many plans.

I wish you and your family a wonderful Labor Day weekend. ENJOY!

Hello fellow friends

I'm not much of a blogger...but I thought I'd try it out. Thanks for reading.
We are coming up on Labor Day weekend (yah!) and we are planning on painting the garage an ugly blue-gray color. You may ask why I say ugly...that is because we bought the paint for our living room, but after we painted some on the wall, we decided it looked like a prison cell. Luckily, we had already bought 3 gallons of paint...can't let that go to waste.
Then, we are planning on celebrating my parent's 25th anniversary with homemade lasagna, cake and a gift. They just returned from Aspen, CO and have tons of pictures to share with us.
Then...we will probably relax, grill out and enjoy a 3 day weekend.
