New Things @ 17 Weeks

We went to visit Blake's family in Florence last weekend. Rose got to meet all of the Scarborough's and was warmly welcomed into the family. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera there (so these are all shots from my cellphone until my camera returns). Blake said "how could you forget the camera - you love that thing". I said "I can't believe I only forgot the camera". It's amazing how much stuff you have to bring along to prolong the life of an infant for the day.

I thought this picture was sweet. Her Lou-Lou (Blake's mom) held her while she had a meltdown and she just fell asleep in her arms. So sweet :)

Rose is getting soooooo sooooo close to turning over. We heard grunting in her crib one night so we investigated by turning on the video monitor. She was on her side and swinging from the left to the right. It was pretty entertaining (this picture is of her in the video monitor). She's almost there - if only she can get that ole' hand out of the way!

Everyone says she is starting to look like me - I can't see it. I still see Little Blake. She definitely has my chunky cheeks though :)

Last night, we started Rose on rice cereal. She LOVED it. I don't know which she loved more, spitting out the rice cereal, tonguing the spoon or slobbering all over the place - I think it was a toss up. She shrills with delight as the spoon comes close - it is actually quite cute (I have a video, am just trying to upload it) Blake and I debated on how much rich cereal she actually ate - guess we will never know who won. She slept from 9-5am, ate a bottle, then slept until 8:30am, so she must have gotten some in her little tummy. She seems to be a little constipated and gassy, so I am going to spread it out to two times a day (in smaller doses) to see if she adjusts better.

As you can see, most of it ends up on her bib, and clothes, and fingers, and face, and hair, and me...

What is making this child unhappy? You'd think it would have been the rice cereal I was forcing her to eat, the nasty poo-like substance they call rice cereal that she had to endure, the spoon being shoved down her throat - but nooooo....she is unhappy because mommy took away her new toy, Mr. Spoon. She is fasciniated by this little guy and will try to shove it as far down her throat as she can - that's why I took it away. I felt a little guilty and like a mean mommy at first, but that disappeared quickly when I saw that she was gagging herself. Isn't she too young to throw a temper-tanturm? We are going to blame this one on Daddy :)

Rose is not the only one who had fun this week. Taylor got shaved!!! She looks like she did when she was a puppy (only bigger) and we are so thankful that the shedding has ceased. She does so well with Rose - they are really good friends now.

Our very talented photographer neighbor (say that 10x) sent us some more pictures of Rose. I especially love the one that shows off Rose's gorgeous eyelashes!! Thanks Paula!

Camping, Boyfriends, You Name It...Life @ 16 Weeks

What an eventful week! We started off last weeking with Rose's first camping trip, had friends over all week and tomorrow, we are going to Florence to see Pops and Lou Lou (Blake's parents) and meet the rest of Blake's family. We can't wait!!! Here are some pictures of our fun week :)

We went camping last weekend with the family and Rose loved it! We didn't rough it out at night, but sorda did during the day.

Rose's first jeans outfit for the outdoors. Isn't she cute?

She is starting to throw her paci, pick it up and fumble it into her mouth. I am especially glad at the progress as it means I won't have to get up in the middle of night because of a MIA paci.

Rose also liked playing on the blow-up mattress. She is getting really good @ tummy time!

Ohhh bathtime...what is a girl to do? She loved the sink - I had some contamination / OCD issues with the bathtub so I decided to sterilize the sink and plop her in. She loved it!

Of course, Aunt Susan taught Rose how to play strategic games. You can see how well Rose is concentrating at playing (or putting them in her mouth).

She loved spending time with her Gigi (or Great Grandma Whitaker). Here there are reading the cabin instructions together.

Naptime in the tent...yes she's on a blow-up mattress. Do you expect anything less from her Jama?

She was changed on a table - I realize this isn't 100% princess treatment, but it's better than the floor or ground!

Friends and fun at our house:

Our neighbor, Paula, is working on perfecting her photography skills and is hoping to start her own business. She took some shots of Rose - here is a sneak peak of our cutie. (Thanks, Paula).

Could it be that she is so cute the boys are flocking to her already? Her daddy hopes not. Our neighbor, Corey, is trying to impress her early by courting her with playtime and hand-holding. Isn't he a cutie too?

Then there's playtime with the boys. We have to teach her to be a strong woman! Here she is with Corey (10 weeks old).

This child is not spoiled at all. She is pretty much held most of the time. Here she is with our friends / neighbors. Paula is holding Rose, Melissa is holding Paula's son, Corey (another one of Rose's future boyfriends).

We had some friends over this week. This is Jeremiah, one of Rose's many future boyfriends. He is 2 and is quite a cutie. He was helping her to properly bounce in her bouncey swing - what a lil gentleman :) (Special thanks to Gigi for the cute hat).
He also was "Rose's first kiss" but I couldn't get any pics of it :(

Rose is such a happy baby (now). She smiles all the time and rarely fusses (I hope I am not jinxing myself). She is so much fun - we are really enjoying watching her grow.

Oh the sleeping shots...my fave.

She is getting so strong. Here is she is "dancing". She loves standing up, especially when there is an audience.

Hope ya'll had a good week as well!

Feet and Fun Times @ 15 weeks

She is growing into the cutest personality. She is definitely a diva, that's for sure, but she is very happy and love-y. She knows what she wants...and will protest until she gets it :) Here are some pics of our week.

Rose has discovered that she has feet and has been playing with them all day everyday. They are her new favorite toys! She's trying to get them in her mouth but isn't that flexible yet.

OMG - 14 weeks!!!

She is our sunshine...

We love love love to go shopping together. It may seem cruel, but to occupy her, I put groceries all over her and she has a ball trying to figure them out!

Isn't this the cutest outfit ever? We had fun taking these shots together.

Gotta love tummy time!!! Rose is getting better with tummy time and loves all the colors on her mat.

Kick-arella. I can't believe how well she is grabbing things!!! Before you know it, I'll have to child-proof the house.

Bouncy Bouncy Time. We set up Rose's bouncy swing this week. She LOVES it. She wasn't really sure what to do at first (as you can see) but she had a fun time figuring it out :)

h

Rose and Taylor were both confused about the bouncy swing - but they figured it out together.
