Bragging Rights

Yes, you're eyes are right. I won @ putt-putt golf against the Scarborough family. I'd like to thank my sister-in-law for documenting and sending this picture so that I can bask in my victory for a year. I'm sure a rematch is in order next year. If I lose, I plan to use the "baby" as an excuse, just so you know.

Fun times in Pensacola.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Thanks to all of our friends / family for all of the wonderful gifts. We love you all.

Baby Scarborough Update

We got to hear the heartbeat; looks like everything is going great. We have our determine the sex appointment in mid-January but we have decided to not find out. We will post pictures/updates after the next appointment.

Belly Bump @ 15.5 Weeks

The baby bump is finally starting to show. I'm feeling a lot better - just having mega heartburn.

As you can see, my face is as fortunate as my body; I'm all out of whack, I guess I can blame hormones on that.

Life @ 13.5 Weeks

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

I went to the doctor today because I was having lower backaches on one side. Because of my previous kidney issues, they wanted to run tests on my kidneys. So far it looks okay; but they are still running tests. They think that I have sciatic nerve pain (not related to any kidney functions) from an inflamed sciatic nerve. If my kidney results come back clear then I will start on a dose of steroids that will hopefully (cross our fingers) take the aches away. It is not painful now, just annoying. The doc said if the steroids don't work then it will get worse as I get bigger - but I can do some home remedies to make it better such as taking a warm bath (as long as I don't submerge my belly???), heating pads, stretching or Therma Care pads - which basically means I have to deal with it and good luck.

We are headed to Gatlinburg this week with the fam to shop. I'm looking forward to getting out of town for the weekend and getting some of my Christmas lists shortened.

Hope everyone is going okay....I have another doctor's appt on the 16th - will update after that appt.

Our First Child (yes, she is in our bed)

Taylor is cracking me up with her new sleeping position. She is so dead to the world that I yelled at Blake to get the camera, moved and she still didn't wake up. Needless to say, she loves sleeping in bed with us and has made herself quite comfortable.

10.5 Weeks and Counting...

We had a good update from the doctor today. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat - doc said it is around 160 bpm. She said that we are clear from the first trimester miscarriage scare. No pics today (which we were a little bummed about, but oh well) but we did schedule our next appointment (mid Dec), then the "find the sex" appointment in January. We will not find out the sex of the baby until it pops out but we will enjoy some pics to add to our album.
Hope you are all doing well.

New Pics of Baby Scarborough

Baby Scarborough is 8 weeks, 1 day old...
Heart beat is 160 bpm. It's little arm buds were crossed in all of the pictures and the eye sockets are beginning to form. There is still a little tail (according to our books). The big black circle is the amniotic sac; there another circle around the baby (you can see it in some of the pictures), which is enclosed along with the yolk sac to nourish the baby until the baby attaches to the placenta through the umbellical cord. The doctor says the spine looks great and that Baby Scarborough is progressing along beautifully. The baby has grown to one inch - about the size of a peanut (------- roughly this big). I've lost 1 lb but am still feeling good most of the time! My next doctor's appointment in mid-November; hopefully we'll have more to share then. Blake is doing well too and is enjoying his extra control over the TV while I get some sleep.

Welcoming Baby Scarborough

The word is out...we are pregnant!
This picture was taken at 6 weeks, 2 days of Little Baby Scarborough. At the time of this picture, Baby Scarborough is the size of a mini M&M. The doctor found a heartbeat - 120bpm (beats per minute)!
Our projected due date is June 7, 2009.

Go Titans

We have been busy the past few weeks catching up and getting back into our regular routine. Blake has finished his thesis - which we are all relieved over! Way to go!
Tomorrow, we are going to see the Titans game and will be tailgaiting with friends. Life is good in the Scarborough household.

Promotion!

I got a promotion today. I am now an Associate Financial Analyst @ CHS!! It will take a few weeks for this to go in effect but I will be getting an office and all the neat gadgets. I'm REALLY excited about this change in my career. I have been working my butt off! We went to my favorite rest. Toot's to celebrate - LOVE that place

Blake also got an excellent review today on his inventory. His DM (District Manager) even called him personally to give him kudos.

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation to CA last week (pictures will be posted soon, I promise). It's amazing how quickly your body adjusts and then how it seems to take long to re-adjust. Even though I love fall, I am not digging that it is getting dark earlier at night. It really screws up my evening walking schedule.

This weekend we are going on our semi-annual camping trip with my family to celebrate my brother and cousin's birthday. We always look forward to some time with the fam. (Don't worry in-laws, we are planning a trip to FL soon. - We miss you guys!)

Hope everyone is doing well.
Love,
The Scarborough's

Summer Fun

We've had a wonderful summer. Unfortunately, my computer doesn't have the same fun; I'm going to have to retire it and learn how to share with Blake. This is the reason for not posting OR posting pictures.

Goals before the end of the summer:
-Need to lay rocks in flower beds to COMPLETE THEM (finally!)
-Paint the front porch
-Touch up the back porch
-Put Miracle Grow on everything

My list is shrinking....good thing.

HELP! Something is eating my Basil!

There are little holes in my basil and one leaf is unsalvagable. I have found a few beetles on them and I usually take them off and throw them in the yard. I've researched briefly online and most of the websites say there is no solution.

Anyone have any ideas? It's in a pot so I could move them around them yard but they are doing SO WELL where they are!!!

Thanks in advance.

Bellsouth

We are cancelling our Comcast account and will be switching over to Bellsouth this week. I will keep everyone posted on our new addresses.

Have a good day!

Memorial Day Flood

We have some new construction in our neighborhood that caused some major flooding over Memorial Day. Our house wasn't damaged, but some of our neighbors had some slight water damage. Our backyard was flooded (see pics). It was nice to have lakefront property for about 2 hours. We almost considered buying a boat. :0)

Internet Issues

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. We are having major internet issues at home so I haven't been able to upload our pics or anything! I didn't realize how much we rely on the internet.

I will post pictures of our adventures at work until this is resolved!

My First Attempt at a Green Thumb

We stole some seeds from C-wood...so I planted them

5 of them are going wild. I planted them on March 3rd and they've taken off.

Still not sure what they are but some days they look rough and some days they look happy. They grow about an inch a day and seem to love their place under the kitchen counter lighting.

Blake and I are super excited about our first year owning a home and being able to have a garden and yard. We are having fun coming up with things to plant and designing our flower beds. Any suggestions are welcome!

Does anyone know what this is?

New Lighting!

The genius at work...

Before - Kitchen (yes, we needed a change)

Under the cabinet lights in kitchen - these are so awesome

After - Kitchen (very excited about this one)

Before - Guest Bathroom

After - Guest Bath

Blake's Birthday

Blake got a full set of golf clubs and some cash...
He had a full week off of work and enjoyed relaxing and fixing up the house (which will be my next post).

Taylor Made

Guess I should have posted an actual picture of the club. It's sweet....

Blake's New Toy

Blake bought a new set of Taylor Made clubs and boy is he excited. He cleaned them because they had "sticky" stuff on them...I got in a couple of photos before I got in trouble :0) I have also caught him putting in the house and taking practice swings...
Tomorrow he is taking me golfing for the second time with some of his buddies. He can't wait to show them off!

Taylor is doing much better. She is back to ole' self and getting into everything and bouncing everywhere. We're going my parents-in-laws house next weekend, so she'll be staying with Grandma and Grandpa.

Our Poor Baby...

We took Taylor to the vet yesterday to get her fixed. We later discovered that she got pregnant in November (see posting on Nov 19 to see the daddy) and was carried the baby in her fallopian tubes. Once the baby ran out of room, it died. Taylor was born with closed fallopian tubes. The dead baby released poisionous toxins and caused her to be very sick. We didn't notice anything different besides her sleeping more than usual. She has never been a good eater so that wasn't a good indicator. She has been running a dangerous high fever for weeks now and the vet said next week she would have gotten even worse and could have possibly died. Needless to say, she was fixed and is on the road to recovery. She is at home now and is sleeping a lot. She is cuddling and hates to be left alone. She can't get on the furniture so we are having to haul her around from couch to couch. She was awake for 10 minutes and wanted to sit by the window, which is the picture attached. She is on antibotics and should be fine in the next couple of days. We feel so lucky to have caught it when we did...

Waterfall Wonderland / Upcoming Weeks Events

I am sitting at our kitchen table, doing homework, checking email and enjoying the waterfall sounds from our back porch. We still haven't fixed the gutter from the tree falling on our house 3 months ago. Part of it is laziness and part of it is that we want to wait until it gets to be Spring so Blake can figure out it he can fix it himself or if he wants to hire someone. So until then, every time it rains, the water comes through the hole and hits the porch. Even if it is barely raining, it sounds like Niagra Falls (ok, I'm exaggerating). It is pretty relaxing though. Because of this, our back porch is "off limits" during storms, unless a second bath is in order. :0)

I have canceled our picture website. I know that deeply distresses all of you...just kidding. I'll try to keep this updated with the latest happenings in the life of the Scarborough's.

Taylor is getting fixed next week and I am beginning to dread it. I know that most dogs experience this and recover quickly, but I feel so bad for her. She already gets anxious when we get in the car so I can imagine from that point on it's going to be that much worse! Will she ever trust us again? This also makes me wonder how it's going to be when I'm a mother of a lil' baby. I am so attached to this dog...

Hope ya'll are having a good week. Catch ya later!

CrAzY week

It's been a crazy week. Blake and I have both been plugging away at school and there never seems to be enough time to get things done...but we are managing. Next week will be better...I think things will slow down a bit and we can relax some.

Hope everyone is doing well. Take care.

P.S. Next week I am closing down our pictures site...please let me know if you'd like some pics and I'll send them to WalMart.

Fun Weekend

We had a great weekend in Florence. Brad came into town and is going to be home (in Jacksonville, FL) for a few months until he gets deployed. We had a "Coming Home" party and invited friends over for a celebration. Blake and I went on a nature walk and house hunted. We found a house that we'd like when we are millionaires! Blake played golf with the boys while I ate lunch with Keishun and Jordan. We had a lovely time.
With all of that excitement, we are both extremely exhausted.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Full Time Students

Yeah, it is official. Today I started the MAE Program at Cumberland. I was really nervous about it but now that orientation is over I feel like I made the right decision. It's a little overwhelming and strange to have 2 students in the house...but I think we will both be able to have better study habits and be better supports for each other. I have to get my computer fixed so I can spread out my things on the table...I guess that'll be next! I'm going to start looking at an Alternative License to teach, since I'm officially enrolled in school...but I'm not sure I'm ready to leave my current job. It's a tough decision but I know that I will know what's right when it comes.

Other than that, everything is going well. Blake has been enjoying his Wii and I have enjoyed not doing dishes!

Our 1st Anniversary

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on Saturday and Sunday. We spent the day together and went out to eat at Nick & Rudy's. Then we came back home and watched "War of Worlds", which was the movie we saw on our first date. Blake has promised to do dishes for a year and brought me roses for my anniversary gift. I gave him a personalized calendar, scrapbook and board game.
On our actual anniversary, our friends Jordan and Keishun came in town and we went to Blackstone Brewery for dinner. Then we ate our traditional cake and played games all night and recalled old memories.
New Years we had a few drinks and friends over. We had a campfire going and had a small fireworks display. We had a blast!
Jordan and Keishun stayed all weekend and we had fun catching up and lounging around...the last pic is of Keishun and me before heading out in the freezing cold to the campfire.

Happy New Year!
