We went to visit Blake's family in Florence last weekend. Rose got to meet all of the Scarborough's and was warmly welcomed into the family. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera there (so these are all shots from my cellphone until my camera returns). Blake said "how could you forget the camera - you love that thing". I said "I can't believe I only forgot the camera". It's amazing how much stuff you have to bring along to prolong the life of an infant for the day.
I thought this picture was sweet. Her Lou-Lou (Blake's mom) held her while she had a meltdown and she just fell asleep in her arms. So sweet :)
Rose is getting soooooo sooooo close to turning over. We heard grunting in her crib one night so we investigated by turning on the video monitor. She was on her side and swinging from the left to the right. It was pretty entertaining (this picture is of her in the video monitor). She's almost there - if only she can get that ole' hand out of the way!
Everyone says she is starting to look like me - I can't see it. I still see Little Blake. She definitely has my chunky cheeks though :)
Last night, we started Rose on rice cereal. She LOVED it. I don't know which she loved more, spitting out the rice cereal, tonguing the spoon or slobbering all over the place - I think it was a toss up. She shrills with delight as the spoon comes close - it is actually quite cute (I have a video, am just trying to upload it) Blake and I debated on how much rich cereal she actually ate - guess we will never know who won. She slept from 9-5am, ate a bottle, then slept until 8:30am, so she must have gotten some in her little tummy. She seems to be a little constipated and gassy, so I am going to spread it out to two times a day (in smaller doses) to see if she adjusts better.
As you can see, most of it ends up on her bib, and clothes, and fingers, and face, and hair, and me...
What is making this child unhappy? You'd think it would have been the rice cereal I was forcing her to eat, the nasty poo-like substance they call rice cereal that she had to endure, the spoon being shoved down her throat - but nooooo....she is unhappy because mommy took away her new toy, Mr. Spoon. She is fasciniated by this little guy and will try to shove it as far down her throat as she can - that's why I took it away. I felt a little guilty and like a mean mommy at first, but that disappeared quickly when I saw that she was gagging herself. Isn't she too young to throw a temper-tanturm? We are going to blame this one on Daddy :)
Rose is not the only one who had fun this week. Taylor got shaved!!! She looks like she did when she was a puppy (only bigger) and we are so thankful that the shedding has ceased. She does so well with Rose - they are really good friends now.
Our very talented photographer neighbor (say that 10x) sent us some more pictures of Rose. I especially love the one that shows off Rose's gorgeous eyelashes!! Thanks Paula!
