Large and In Charge!

This is my 29.5 week picture :) (Yes, my pants are up past my belly button - I'm comfortable; don't judge me!)

We had another doctors appointment today. Rose's heartbeat is good and the doctor said that everything is fine. In 2 weeks, I will begin going to my regular doctor twice a week: each week they will monitor her via ultrasound for growth and then monitor her heartbeat for activity levels.

Our next appointment is on April 2nd with the High Risk Doctor to see how big she's grown over 10 weeks (this will start the monitoring process), so we will have pics soon.

We are well on our way to finishing Rose's nursery (pictures below). We have the furniture built and room painted. Our sister-in-law is painting a rose outline on the main wall; so we are excited to see how that will turn out. Both of us are in full nesting mode - we are working on perfecting the house for our future bundle of joy.

Almost 29 week update

What a week!
I went to the Dietician last week and was put on a very strict, low-carb diet. I learned about nutrition and was surprised at how many things have carbs in them! I also have to check my blood sugar between 4-10 times a day and write a log of foods I eat and activity levels.

I went to the High Risk GD (Gestational Diabetes) Doctor today. She is not happy that my morning blood sugar is so high; so she is putting me on a drug that does not pass through to the baby in order to keep my blood sugar down during the night. Apparently, my body is not processing sugar at night - and a very controlled diet is not helping. As my pregnancy progress, the need for stronger drugs may be in order.

She said that they will induce me around 38-38.5 weeks, which looks like May 24th-27th (OMG - that's 9 weeks away!!!!). We will be going to my regular doctor on the 24th and then back to the GD Doctor on April 2nd. The GD Doctor is going to perform an ultrasound to measure lil' Rose and see how her weight is progressing. I will have an appointment every other week until a month out (then it will change to weekly) where they watch to see how fast she is growing. This will help determine the type of delivery we can expect; the GD Doctor has no reason to believe that I will need a C-Section at this point.

Rose has been kicking away and seems to be enjoying life more in a sugar-free body. I can feel her moving more and more through the weeks and enjoy watching her make my belly shake and make weird shapes. Even though I miss my Sonic Blasts, I feel like a different person; I have energy, I am not sleepy all the time and I feel like I am really a part of this world and not a zombie! I am FULL all of the time because I'm eating 6x a day; so I haven't really missed sugar yet.

I will keep you posted on the upcoming appointments and will post ultrasound pics as I get them.
Thank you all for your prayers and support through this....

26 week checkup

We had our 26 week checkup last week - Rose is doing great. They checked her heartbeat; everything looks fine. I've gained 29 lbs so far so I'm really proud of that (not). I just found out that I did not pass the gestational diabetes screen so I am going back on Thursday for the dreaded 3 hour test.

We spent last week in FL for Blake's grandfather's funeral. Sad news but he is in a better place. I'll try to post belly pics soon - I'm behind!

Blake and I have been wanting hardwood floors pretty much since the day we moved into our house. We have been putting it off but decided to do it before Rose came. It was tough work but we are SO glad that we did it. Below documents before, during and after. We love our new bamboo floors; Taylor is still adjusting.

Our lil princess @ 19.5 weeks

We are having a little girl!!!!! We are pretty sure that we are going to name her Rose Ashlyn but we are going to think about it and toss out a few ones before deciding. This is the pictures from the ultrasound visit.

This is the best picture we got of her (in our opinion). This was one of the last pictures and I think she was getting tired of being so active during the beginning of our visit.

Our little princess already has such a personality; in this picture she is rockin' out. She has her thumb out, her two middle fingers bent and her index and pinky finger up like the devilhorns sign. She is quite the photogenic one. Her hands are at the top right of the screen, head is at the far right and the rest of her body follows to the left.

This is the "figure out the sex" picture. Her lil butt is at the far right of the screen, with her legs following to the left. She has them spread out. The 3 white lines are her "girly" parts. We weren't going to find out and went into the ultrasound as a united front that we were going to tell the lab tell that we didn't want to know (which we did). When it got to the sex part she told us to turn our heads so she could type the sex in. Neither of it thought it was fair that the doctor would know and not us, so we guessed and she told us we were right. The lab tech is 100% sure it's a girl.

Here is her foot and leg right before she kicked me. She didn't mind being pushed around but would kick sometimes to show her leg strength. After the lab tech told me that she was kicking me and showing me where; I could tell that what I've been feeling the past 1.5 weeks is her moving. Blake hasn't been able to feel her yet; but it's getting stronger so I'm sure he will be able to in a few weeks.

Rose is waiving to us in this picture. This is her arm and hand (lower left corner). She was VERY active during the ultrasound and the lab tech was having a hard time getting good shots of her.

This is another profile pic of her face. Her forehead is to the left, eyes & mouth following to the left. Like I said, she wouldn't stay still so these were as good as we can get. She was very stubborn and would not show us the front of her face; guess it's safe to say that this is our child!

This is probably the hardest picture to decipher; it's a picture of her nose, mouth, stomach and heart. The top of her head is not in the pic. At the far right, you will see two dark spots; this is her nose. Following to the left, is another dark spot; this is her mouth (open). The big dark spot in the middle is her heart and the four chambers in her stomach. A little creepy, I know.

She weights 14 oz and is bigger than the size of an extended hand. Her heartbeat is 147 bpm and all of her parts are functioning beautifully. The doctor is pleased with her progress and thinks she is healthy. I'm doing great; just having massive heartburn. To date, I've gained 20 lbs, so that's been really exciting. It's hard to believe how big she's gotten since the last picture, how fast she is growing and how fast this pregnancy has gone by! Hard to believe that in 4.5 months, we will be holding this lil bundle of joy. Our next appointment is in February; I think they will be doing a diabetes test, which I hear is really fun.

Blake is so pleased to have a lil princess. He called it from the minute we got a positive pregnancy test. He has decided that our first purchase will be a gun so he can protect his princess from little boys. He does not like jokes about our friends with boys saying they can be her suitor :) She already has him wrapped around his finger and it's precious to see how excited and ready he is to meet her.
